TAKE AN ORPHANED DOG FOR A “TEST DRIVE” DURING
“TAKE YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY” THIS FRIDAY!

Rancho Santa Fe, CA –Dog lovers are invited to, “Take an Orphaned Dog to Work” during, “Take Your Dog to Work Day” this Friday. Visit the Center on Thursday for details about how you can qualify to take an orphaned dog to work with you. (Note: While some dogs are, “working” breeds…these dogs DO NOT type or take dictation!)

“Make sure it’s okay with your boss,” says HWAC spokesman John Van Zante. “If the management gives you two-paws-up and says it’s okay to bring a pooch, make sure that it’s okay with your co-workers. We want this to be a positive experience for everyone.”

Van Zante says, “The best thing that could happen would be that you fall in love with the dog you take to work then you adopt it and live happily ever-after. The worst case scenario would be that you give the dog a one-day vacation away from the kennels and it gets to meet your friends and co-workers. That’s still a win-win situation!”

A few things that you can do for a successful, “Take Your Dog to Work” Day:
*          Take dog water and food dishes and a blanket or dog bed. (HWAC can help with this.)
*          Iams will provide lunch for dogs taking part in, “Take an Orphaned Dog to Work Day.”
*          Remember to take the dog out for some walk breaks. (Good for both of you!)

Van Zante says that having a dog in the workplace has health benefits. “When you pet a dog your blood pressure drops, contributing to a healthy, more productive work environment. Offices that allow pets also tend to be quieter. And none of us want our dogs to see us goofing off.”

Find out how you can, “Take an Orphaned Dog to Work” this Friday. Visit Helen Woodward Animal Center at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe or call 858-756-4117.

If you’re scared of dogs, HWAC offers “Dog Smart” to help overcome the fear!
