SCROOGE LOSES! “TINY TIM” GOES HOME 4 THE HOLIDAYS!
Rancho Santa Fe, CA – “Tiny Tim”, a puppy abandoned a week ago at Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe , is beginning life in his new home surrounded by five adoring “sisters”. No longer an orphan, the little puppy was adopted today during the Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive.
Floyd and Ankie Nixon of San Marcos told pet adoption counselors that they had been considering two other dogs on the HWAC website when Tiny Tim’s information and photo popped up. They fell in love immediately.
When the time came for the family to pay the adoption fee, each of the daughters reached into her pocket and pulled out a “baggie” containing the Christmas money they had received from their grandpa. Floyd Nixon said that he feels it’s important for the girls to recognize the value and commitment necessary for their new puppy.
In addition to the Iams Starter Kit that the family received for adopting Tiny Tim during the Iams Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive, they also received a one-year supply of Iams puppy food, a dog bed and toys from PetSmart, and medical services from Rancho Santa Fe Veterinary Hospital.
“This is one lucky dog,” says HWAC spokesman John Van Zante. “Someone dumped him in our parking lot, one of our staff members found him, and in the true holiday tradition he found ‘room at the inn’ until his new family arrived to take him home.”
“We can’t believe anyone could leave this precious 4-pound gift in the cold,” says HWAC President Mike Arms. “When a family brings an orphaned pet into their home, it’s hard to say who gets the greater gift.”
Van Zante notes, “There are about 1,000 orphaned dogs and cats waiting for their new families at animal shelters and foster homes in San Diego County. What greater gift can there be during the holidays than to save the life of an orphaned animals?”
