Four-legged celebs take to the waves to hang 20!
Del Mar, CA – On September 11, 2011 join Ricochet, Nani, Dozer, and Buddy as they hit the beach with their canine buds to raise money for orphans in need. These amazing Surf Dog ambassadors will entertain and inspire you with their feats of strength, bravery, and style as they ride the wave of competition to see who will be this year’s “top dog” at the 2011 Helen Woodward Animal Center Surf Dog Surf-a-thon.
The largest surfing dog contest in the country, sponsored by our friends at Eukanuba, will have something for everybody with more than 80 dogs surfing in 4 different weight classes. Professional surfers will be judging and participating in the Surf Dog competition, while three mystery local TV stars will be “keeping it real” in the costume contest. Meanwhile fantastic goodies for you and your pet will be available at over 70 vendor booths.
Those in attendance will also get a “first peek” at professional surfer, Guy Takayama’s, newly designed “Surfah dog” surf boards made especially for your four-legged best friend’s safety and enjoyment.
Whether you are there to root for the top fund raising canine in the world, Ricochet, the amazing surfing bulldog, Dozer, the gentle giant Nani, or the Kelly Slater of the dog world, our pal Buddy, we can’t wait to see you all down on the beach on Saturday, September 11, 2011. This special date will be honored by a tribute to search and rescue dogs everywhere who give their all to mankind each and every day in the most selfless and heroic way. From 9/11 to the streets of Baghdad, canine bravery helps keep us all safe.
All dogs and cats, puppies and kittens at Helen Woodward Animal Center are spayed or neutered, have up-to-date vaccines, and have passed health and temperament testing before going, “home” with their new families. Plus, when you adopt from HWAC, receive two free tickets to Sea World to celebrate the summer.
