Foster An Animal

Every animal in the Education Department at Helen Woodward Animal Center has its own special needs. It’s a lot of work to care for them all! You can help children and animals by fostering an animal that teaches children about humane education and animal welfare. If you can’t adopt an animal, or rescue an animal, fostering may be the perfect way to help animals and children at the same time.
What’s great is that this is not a fostering program from afar. When you choose a foster animal, you get opportunities to interact and meet your special ‘foster pet,’ too! You can foster an Education Animal through your one-time donation or as a monthly sponsor.
With your first donation you will receive a ‘Certificate of Thanks’ and a profile with a photo of your chosen foster animal. Then, every month after that, you will receive another photo and an update on your foster animal. After six months you will receive a framed photo of your animal and a critter camp t-shirt. And finally, after one year as an animal foster you'll have the opportunity to meet your animal and spend some quality time together...face to face. We'll take your photo together and you'll receive a calendar starring your foster animal!

We all have someone who's hard to shop for. This foster program makes unique gifts for family, friends, or the young at heart. Our fostering service also makes wonderful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, or any number of special occasions. Choose as many foster pets as you like; or choose a foster animal as a gift or tribute in memory of a loved one. Fostering animals can also be a fun classroom, Girl Scout, or Boy Scout community service project for children.
