Helen Woodward Animal Center’s vision for the future of animal welfare must begin right here with our own facility.  The Animal Center of the future has indoor kennel facilities, isolation areas to prevent the spread of illness, fully equipped surgery rooms, and a proper office for our veterinarian and her staff. The Adoptions area is inviting and warm, so that guests will want to visit the Center and enjoy quality time with our adoptable animals.  The Animal Center of the future includes a training room for visiting shelters, a large amphitheater for presentations for visitors and for our staff, and enough room to double the space for popular services like boarding and humane education.
Helen Woodward Animal Center was built in 1972 and due to a number of architectural flaws and the build-up of adjacent properties, the Center has been plagued with daily structural problems for years including leaks, floods, electrical and phone line problems, and extensive temperature regulation issues.  In addition, the Center is simply unable to meet the growing needs of the surrounding communities at its current size.
