Delilah

Chained for two years

You’ve been alive for two and a half years and the first two years you’ve spent chained in a yard. On cold nights and sweltering hot days that would reach 110 degrees, you cannot break away from the chain. This was Delilah’s life before she came to Helen Woodward Animal Center. There was no place for her to hide or receive comfort. The strong gusts of wind and powerful rain would pound down on her. She learned to live with the lightening and thunder directly over her head. This is what she was forced to call home. Delilah never had the luxury of going for a walk or the touch of a warm hand. The only time she received social interaction is when her food was carelessly tossed to her. She never got the chance to show her playful and loving nature.

Finally, heroes came in and broke Delilah from the chain that controlled her life. She was given a second chance at life.  A rescuer from Arizona transferred her to us at the Center in August.  Even with the dreadful first two years of her life, she still wants to give back to humans.  She looks you in the eye with hope, and kisses your hand simply because she thinks this is what will make you happy.  Give her just a moment and you realize what a wonderful girl she is.
