Born at the TV station….

The kitten could hear her lone sibling mew again. It sounded plaintiff and shrill. They had waited and huddled in the darkness where their mom had left them, like good little kittens, but she had not returned yet. The kittens instinctually knew that they needed to stay put! But how long could they wait before they got too weak for movement, or even life…

Helen Woodward Animal Center got a desperate call on Sunday, May 2nd: abandoned kittens found! These kittens were found at the studios of KUSI, a San Diego TV station, in their Props Storage room. The kittens’ mother, being cared for by staff members at KUSI, was accidentally scared away by a scheduled cleaning of the room. KUSI staff members came to the rescue and called Helen Woodward Animal Center. Being too young to adopt yet, the kittens were immediately placed with one of HWAC’s foster families that same day.

The kittens are both females and named “Ku” and “Si” (pronounced “Koo” and “See”). Their foster mom says that within 4 hours of being in their foster home, the kittens were settled and comfortable. Ku and Si enjoyed playing with any and all cat toys, zooming around the house and emulating the sassy “catitude” of the resident cat at their foster home. Ku and Si’s foster mom loves how they each have their own personality: Si is the brains of the pair while Ku is the beauty.  They flourished in their foster homes until old enough to be spayed and put up for adoption.

Fast forward:  Ku and Si went back to the KUSI studios on June 20 ready for adoption and were naturals in front of the camera!   Their plea for a family was heard and on June 21 they went home, together, as a pair.  See their appearance at http://www.kusi.com/news/goodmorning/96754034.html

We invite your family to come out and see all the wonderful kittens that are waiting for their forever families!  Come find the one waiting for you!
