Who could foreclose on a puppy?
Everything was gone: the furniture, the food, and now even the family. The female puppy wandered the house, whining and crying for them, but no one answered her plaintive cries for help. She could still smell her family in the house, but it had been days and days since she had seen anyone.
Occasionally, she would hear a car or person outside. She cocked her head and listened, ‘Could it be them?’ It never was.
She was taught to not make a mess in the house, but now she had no choice. It didn’t matter after a few days anyway, since she had not eaten food or taken a drink of water since her family left. Her ribs began to show through her thin, puppy-fur.
It was also cold at night with no heater on. She did her best to keep warm and curled in a tight ball each night, but nothing stopped the shivering.
Would she wait here forever? What did she do wrong to deserve this?
Despite this sad beginning, this little puppy, who we now call Pogo, was rescued in the nick of time and now her story has become a much happier tale to tell.
Pogo’s family was forced to leave their home after they were served a foreclosure notice. The family, for whatever reason they had, decided to leave Pogo locked in their home. Luckily, someone heard Pogo’s cries for help and she was rescued before she starved.
Our rescue partner transferred Pogo to Helen Woodward Animal Center where she would be sure to receive medical care while she recovered from her misfortune. Despite the horrible beginning to her life, Pogo greeted each staff member and volunteer with a tail wag and a puppy ‘happy-dance.’ She ate nourishing food, slept in warm blankets and received TLC for the first time since leaving her foreclosed home.
Pogo is a sweet girl, willing to please, who greatly enjoys gentle pets and snuggle-time. She has adorable freckles on her face, body and paws and will do well with a family who is active and enjoys the outdoors.
Soon, Pogo will be old enough and strong enough to receive her immunizations and surgery. After that, she will embark on a new chapter of her life: to find a permanent and loving family.
You can’t foreclose on a dog’s love for you!
