I know that animal lovers around the world have been worried about our friends impacted by Hurricane Sandy throughout New York and New Jersey.  As with any tragedy, the initial focus is on the people affected and rarely the pets.  Even though we didn’t hear much here at Helen Woodward Animal Center we knew that the animals were affected by the tragedy of the storm and we wanted to help.

We were able to take almost 50 of these brave cats and dogs that were already in shelters when the storm struck and with the help of Sea World, Southwest Airlines, and BP oil fly them to safety at Helen Woodward Animal Center.
Here are a few of these special survivors and my new best friends– all the way from the East Coast!

Pinecone – 2 year old boxer blend  Cinnamon – 6 month old tortie Hugs- 3 year old female pug
Kisses – 1 year brindle terrier blend Macadamia – 2 years old Cookie – 5 years old Beagle blend

I know you want to do what you can to help these amazing animals who have already been through so much.  Your gift today designated for these poor orphans who have been victims twice – once in losing their families when they were surrendered and now again losing their temporary homes due to Hurricane Sandy – that we love them and they have not been forgotten.
Our hearts go out to those pets on the East Coast who are still waiting for their families to find them.  We are just grateful we could help those who were not lucky enough to have a family looking for them.
