Main Directions (See Critter Camp Directions Below)

I-5 Northbound (from San Diego , El Cajon)

• I-5 to Del Mar Heights Road
• Go right (east) at end of ramp
• El Camino Real, turn left
• San Dieguito Road, (about 2 miles) turn right (there is a stop light at this intersection)
• Travel about 3 miles to El Apajo and turn left
• Left into the parking lot

I-5 Southbound (from Oceanside, Encinitas)

• I-5 to Via de la Valle
• Turn left (east)
• El Camino Real turn right (south)
• San Dieguito turn left (east)
• El Apajo turn left (north)
• Left into parking lot

I-15 Southbound (from Temecula, Riverside, Escondido)

• I-15 to Valley Parkway - turn right (west)
• Road changes into Del Dios Highway
• 2nd stop sign - Via de la Valle turn left (west)
• Calzada del Bosque turn left (south)
• Right into parking lot

 

I-15 Northbound (FromTed Williams Freeway/ Highway 56, Poway, Rancho Bernardo, and Scripps Ranch)

• Hwy 56 West
• * Exit Camino Del Sur and turn right
• * Cross Carmel Valley Rd.
• * Left on San Dieguito Rd.
• Right at El Apajo
• Left turn into Helen Woodward Animal Center.

SUMMER CRITTER CAMP:

Pre-K through 2nd Grade Drop Off/Pick Up:

• Follow directions above to get to the Center grounds
• Enter off San Dieguito Road onto Calle del Nido Road
• Travel down the alley of Calle del Nido passing all gates until road ends
• Parking lot for camp drop off will be at end of Calle del Nido

3rd through 8th Grade and Junior Volunteer Drop Off/Pick Up:

• Follow directions above to get to the Center grounds
• Enter off El Apajo Road and park in the main HWAC parking lot
• Camp drop off/pick up will be located in the arena
